If You Value Safety, the 2017 Fusion is Worth Its Weight in Gold

The Ford Fusion has had a reputation for safety for many years now, frequently taking home a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA, and the IIHS's Top Safety Pick. This year's Fusion, however, takes the cake.

Ever since the IIHS began conducting its small-overlap front crash test, the Fusion has earned the rating acceptable, on a scale of good, acceptable, marginal, and poor. In other words, it provided above-average protection...

It takes patience to be an agave plant. You grow slowly into a head of spiky leaves over the course of 7 to 10 years, before finally reaching maturity. Only then are you harvested, roasted, and pressed for your delicious sap.

The nectar you took 10 years developing is then fermented and distilled into delicious Jose Cuervo tequila, while the rest of you... well... what does happen to the rest…

Ford F-150 Works Detroit Farms to Bring Fresh Produce to Public School Children

While there may be plenty of farmland surrounding North Platte, often residents of big cities like Detroit find themselves living in "food deserts," neighborhoods without access to affordable fresh produce.

Food deserts are a big problem for the health of communities, especially for the academic success of students. Think about the last time you were really hungry and all you had eaten all day was sugary processed cereal. Were you in any condition

Autotrader Smitten by the Singular 2016 Ford Flex

Big and boxy, yet nonetheless beautiful, the 2016 Ford Flex is no doubt one of our favorite full-size crossovers here at Bill Summers Ford LLC.

And, as we learned rather recently, the Flex is evidently also a favorite of Autotrader critic, Jabari Jones. Scope the clip below to learn what he likes best about it:

Most shoppers are sure to find a whole lot to love about the Flex's entry-level engine, a 3.5-liter V6. Rated at a respectable 287 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque, this six-banger has more than enough muscle for most every daily drive.

Ford Farms for Ingredients to Build New Cars

Are you friends with a soybean farmer in the North Platte area? Their beans could end up in your next Ford vehicle!

Since 2007, Ford has been manufacturing new vehicles in North America with soy-based foam from beans grown in the U.S. Soy is a more stable source of raw materials than petroleum oil, and it cuts down on carbon emissions, too.

Ford has been working to add to the number of regionally-grown agricultural

The 2017 Ford Super Duty Finally Gets a Fully-Boxed Frame

Fully-boxed frames are more rigid than the C-channel frames Ford used to use on its Super Duty trucks. The reason the Super Duty stuck so long with its C-channel frame is in part a function of weight -- adding more steel to the frame means more pounds on the truck, and fewer pounds that can be hauled.

For the 2017 model year, the Super Duty is getting a major redesign. Weight is being removed from the body by switching from steel to military-grade aluminum, and that weight is being reinvested in other areas, like the frame.

The 2017 Super Duty's…

Europe's Practical Focus ST Diesel Wagon is an American Dream

When you think "diesel" powered anything, it's usually thinking of trucks. For good reason, too. Diesel powered cars have a metric trunk load of torque, and that's what pickups need. But what if we told you there was a Ford wagon out there that also had the same kind of power? Meet the European Focus ST wagon.

Can a Self-Driving Car Work in Deep Snow?

Self-driving cars would be cool, but there's no way they could function in northern climates. They need to see lane marking on the road. Severe weather would interfere with their sensors.

That's been a leading criticism against the viability of self-driving cars. But is it true?

Ford silenced a slew of critics this year with the first publicly demonstrated test of autonomy in snow -- or "snowtonomy" as they call it.

They're engineers, not wordsmiths.

The autonomous Ford Fusion Hybrid test vehicle has redundant sensors that are constantly monitored for impaired performance caused by snow

The Ethisphere Institute Speaks

“Ford understands that trust is the cornerstone of everything it does, and their commitment to being an active part of a global community helps explain why they are the only automaker Ethisphere has recognized every year since 2010. Being honored for the seventh time is no small achievement. Congratulations to everyone at Ford for being recognized.”
