Thirteen new electric models in four years.
That's what Ford President & CEO Mark Fields promised earlier this week at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
A $4.5 billion investment in electric vehicles is just the beginning of the big announcements the company has to make. Programmers are working to integrate the new SYNC 3 (which will soon replace Sync with MyFord Touch in new vehicles) with Amazon Echo. This would allow drivers to connect their car with their home, and control both using voice commands.
This year may also be the year of the self-driving car.
Though no company yet has an end-user product on the market with full autonomy, it's becoming a race to the finish line. Ford has one of the largest autonomous fleets, decking out 30 Ford Fusion with new small but powerful LIDAR sensors.
